About Posies Florist

Posies Florist based in the heart of Hill Top, West Bromwich is an independent, family run florist shop for nearly 30 years. Posies Florist opened its doors back in 1989 by husband and wife team, Steve and Pauline Godwin. Growing up in the local West Midlands area the pair wanted to plant roots close to home in profession they were passionate about. The opportunity came along to open their own florist shop in Hill Top, and they fell in love with the shop which dates back to the 1800s and is full of character and charm.

You can be assured of not only a professional product and service from Posies Florist, but the ability to create that special individual design just for you. Our expert team of florists hand condition every stem, carefully choose every flower from our wholesalers and lovingly design every bouquet. Dealing with all aspects of floristry and event services, we pride ourselves on being a local business that still offers a caring & personal service to all of our customers. We offer a broad range of floristry services including Weddings, Arrangements, Funerals and Special Events.

Owner and founder Pauline grew up in a nearby Great Barr and was involved from a young age with arts, crafts and flower arranging that her Mother and Nan loved doing. With a natural eye for detail and creative hands, it was a natural progression for Pauline to turn her passion for flowers into her career when the chance came along. Pauline is qualified to I.C.S.F level and also a qualified floristry teacher, who has now dedicated her time to the family floristry business. Pauline’s favourite part of her job is working with happy couples creating their Wedding Flowers, as she loves building a lasting connection and seeing every detail through of the journey - from the first consultation to the big day.

Steve founded Posies Florist back in 1989 with Pauline. A local lad, he originally trained as a Butcher and gained valuable retail experience working in shops. The opportunity to start his own local business with Pauline was exciting, along with the challenge of learning a new trade. Steve bench trained alongside Pauline to learn everything from conditioning stems to making a hand tied bouquet. He loves being involved with the day to day running of the shop and being on hand to chat with all visitors.

Neil joined the Posies Florist team back in 2000, business was blooming and they needed a delivery driver to help meet demands. Neil quickly discovered a love of flowers and went on to bench train with Pauline and Steve to become a full time florist. His best work is with greenery, Neil makes stunning coffin sprays and funeral tributes.

Gaynor has worked part time at Posies Florist for over 10 years. A valuable member of the team, she is brilliant at creating seasonal aqua pack bouquets and beautiful sympathy flowers.

Posies Florist are passionate about being a part of the community, and as a local business are honoured when they are able to give something back. Pauline and Steve are closely involved in local good causes, and often host fund raising events such as coffee and cake mornings in the shop. Pauline also loves brightening the high street with the Posies Florist display window - and her creations often become the talk of the town. Using seasonal inspiration, flowers and props Pauline designs the windows to reflect important dates or events such as Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter and Remembrance Sunday. Keep your eyes open on our Facebook page or pop by the shop at 113 Hill Top, West Bromwich to see our latest window designs and upcoming fund raising events.
